Hi, I’m Kate!

I am a passionate and vibrant human that believes in the power of gratitude. I am a lover of life. I am spiritual. I am dedicated to following my inner wisdom and guidance. I am an outgoing introvert- I love people and silent alone time. I live wholeheartedly, deeply and with tenacity. I am in recovery of judgement and unkind self talk, and like any recovery process, there are ebbs and flows. I believe in the power of one, that we can be the change we wish to see. I practice choosing joy in every moment. And, when I can’t, I practice choosing patience and loving-kindness. 

Align & Move with Kate, was started with a burning passion to holistically embrace all aspects of being human, living in a physical body. I was tired of trying to fit into a one-size fits-all box. I knew there was more to the picture than simply teaching a squat, that it affected more than the physical structures of the body. I knew it was deeper, more expansive, and profound. And so, I took the leap and declared it possible.

Living with a chronic lung disease has been an incredible teacher of the value in fully living in the present moment, choosing joy and experiencing the depth of bodily sensation (and how it affects all aspects of our lives).

I recognized early on that I had a choice in how I experienced my life. There was something burning inside of me that reminded me that choosing joy was possible. That wise  voice within has, and continues to act as my compass through life. 

Naturally, I built my work around supporting others to hear that voice within. The more we deepen our awareness, connect with ourselves and practice listening, the better we understand ourselves and how to navigate through life as our full, authentic self.

It’s not simply the what we do, but how we do it that aids us in going deeper within ourselves.

How is this work different than traditional personal training?

 

Clients utilize our work together to build a strong foundation both in physical, mental, emotional alignment and in developing the skills in how to listen to, and hear, their bodies. And when they do, they’re amazed at what they hear. Possibilities open up as they experience their voice within having the answers they seek… knowing where to go, what to do, and how to do it. Together, we practice patient and non-attached listening, supporting and honoring.

This work is about taking movement to the next level by deepening awareness. It’s not (only) what you do, but how you do it. So, we bring mindfulness, intentionality, and curiosity to each movement, breath, and thought-feeling in order to understand, or reprogram the how and why.

Traditional personal training is focused more around telling people what to do rather than supporting them to have and feel their own experience. I bring my knowledge, experience and expertise to inform what we practice and the way in which we do it. The main focuses of this work is:

  • Posture correction.

  • Deepening awareness of physical, mental and emotional
    bodies, and their interconnectedness.

  • Alignment- physical, mental, emotional.

  • Strength Training & Conditioning.

  • Pain reduction.

  • Reprogramming physical patterns.
